Sugar Snails are a delightful treat made with creamy butter and sugar, resulting in tender, sweet pastries. Bake these whimsical spirals at 350°F for a buttery bite that’s perfect for any gathering!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon alcohol-free vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar (for dusting)
  • Optional: cinnamon for sprinkling

Instructions

  1. Step 1: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Step 2: In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. This should take about 3-4 minutes.
  3. Step 3: Add the egg and vanilla powder to the mixture, and continue to mix until well incorporated.
  4. Step 4: Gradually add in the all-purpose flour and salt, mixing until a soft dough forms. If the dough is too sticky, you can add a little more flour as needed.
  5. Step 5: Roll small pieces of dough into snail shapes or spirals and place them on the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each one for spreading.
  6. Step 6: Bake in the preheated oven for about 12-15 minutes or until lightly golden. Once out of the oven, let them cool slightly before dusting with powdered sugar and optional cinnamon. Enjoy!

Notes

  • For optimal freshness, store your Sugar Snails in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week, or refrigerate them for longer shelf life. If you want to enjoy them warm, simply reheat the snails in a preheated oven at 300°F (150°C) for about 5 minutes to restore their soft texture. Serve your Sugar Snails with a cup of tea or coffee, and consider adding a dollop of whipped cream on the side for an extra treat. For an aromatic twist, try adding a pinch of cinnamon to the dough before baking; it pairs beautifully with the sweetness!
