Experience creamy, chocolatey bliss with these Spring Celebration Egg Oreo Balls! Simple to make: crush, mix, roll, chill, and dip in colorful candy. Ideal for festive tables.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (14.3 oz) package Oreo cookies (about 36 cookies)
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 12 oz white candy melts or white chocolate chips
  • 1 tsp coconut oil (optional, for thinning chocolate)
  • Gel food coloring in various spring colors (e.g., pink, yellow, blue, green)
  • 2 tbsp spring-themed sprinkles or decorative sugars

Instructions

  1. Step 1: Crush the Oreo cookies into fine crumbs using a food processor or by placing them in a zip-top bag and crushing with a rolling pin. In a medium bowl, combine the crushed Oreo crumbs and the softened cream cheese. Mix thoroughly until well combined and a dough-like consistency is formed.
  2. Step 2: Take small portions of the Oreo mixture and roll them into oval or egg shapes, about 1 to 1.5 inches long. Place the shaped "eggs" on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Chill the Oreo eggs in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to firm up.
  3. Step 3: Melt the white candy melts or white chocolate chips according to package directions (microwave or double boiler). If using white chocolate chips, add the optional coconut oil to help thin it for smoother dipping. Divide the melted chocolate into several small bowls, one for each color you desire. Add a few drops of gel food coloring to each bowl and stir until the color is evenly distributed.
  4. Step 4: Remove the chilled Oreo eggs from the refrigerator. Dip each egg into one of the colored melted chocolates, ensuring it's fully coated. Gently tap off any excess chocolate before carefully returning it to the parchment-lined baking sheet.
  5. Step 5: While the chocolate coating is still wet, immediately decorate the "eggs" with spring-themed sprinkles or decorative sugars. Once all eggs are dipped and decorated, return the baking sheet to the refrigerator to chill for another 15-30 minutes, or until the chocolate coating is completely set.

Notes

  • Keep these delightful Spring Celebration Egg Oreo Balls fresh and firm by storing them in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week; they're wonderfully refreshing when thoroughly chilled!
  • These chocolatey delights are best enjoyed straight from the refrigerator, providing a perfectly firm texture and cool, sweet burst of flavor that's ideal for a spring treat.
  • Arrange these vibrantly colored egg balls on a festive platter as a charming centerpiece for your spring celebration, perhaps alongside some fresh fruit for an added touch of seasonal cheer.
  • For the smoothest, most vibrant colored chocolate coating, always opt for gel food coloring as liquid dyes can cause your melted chocolate to seize and become clumpy.
