Elevate snack time with air-fried carrot chips! Thinly sliced & seasoned with garlic and smoked paprika for a crispy, flavorful bite. Simple ingredients, extraordinary taste. Full recipe + nutrition.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound carrots (about 45 medium)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil or avocado oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika

Instructions

  1. Step 1: Prepare the carrots by washing them thoroughly. Peel them if desired (this gives a smoother chip texture), then slice them into very thin rounds or strips (about 1/16 to 1/8 inch thick) using a mandoline slicer or a sharp knife.
  2. Step 2: In a medium bowl, combine the sliced carrots with olive oil, sea salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and smoked paprika. Toss well to ensure all carrot slices are evenly coated.
  3. Step 3: Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for 3-5 minutes.
  4. Step 4: Arrange a single layer of seasoned carrot slices in the air fryer basket, ensuring not to overcrowd it. You will need to cook them in batches.
  5. Step 5: Air fry for 10-15 minutes, shaking the basket gently or flipping the chips halfway through (around the 5-7 minute mark), until they are crispy and lightly browned. Keep a close eye on them during the last few minutes as they can burn quickly due to their thinness.
  6. Step 6: Remove the crispy carrot chips from the air fryer and transfer them to a plate lined with paper towels to absorb any excess oil. Let them cool completely for a few minutes; they will crisp up even more as they cool. Repeat with remaining batches.

Notes

  • Once completely cooled, store any leftover chips in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2-3 days to help them retain their delightful crispiness.
  • If your carrot chips lose some of their crunch, a quick 2-3 minute refresh in the air fryer at 350°F (175°C) will bring them right back to life.
  • These savory carrot chips are fantastic on their own, but truly shine when paired with a creamy dill dip, a tangy yogurt sauce, or even a spicy sriracha mayo.
  • For the most consistently crispy chips, using a mandoline to achieve uniformly paper-thin slices is key; uneven thickness can lead to some burning while others remain soft.
