Spice up your weeknights with these ASIAN CHILI GROUND TURKEY & GREEN BEAN BOWLS – theonelifeplanner.com! Savory turkey, crisp green beans, and a zesty chili sauce, all in one skillet.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 lb ground turkey
  • 1 medium yellow onion, diced
  • 12 oz green beans, trimmed (fresh or frozen)
  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger, grated
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • ¼ cup soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp chili garlic sauce

Instructions

  1. Step 1: Heat sesame oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add ground turkey and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned. Drain any excess grease. Add the diced yellow onion, grated ginger, and minced garlic to the skillet and sauté for 3-5 minutes until the onion softens and becomes fragrant.
  2. Step 2: While the turkey and aromatics cook, prepare the sauce. In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, chili garlic sauce, 1 tbsp rice vinegar, 1 tbsp brown sugar, 1 tsp cornstarch, and ¼ cup water until well combined.
  3. Step 3: Add the green beans to the skillet with the turkey and onion mixture. Cook for 3-5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the green beans are tender-crisp.
  4. Step 4: Pour the prepared sauce mixture over the turkey and vegetables in the skillet. Bring the mixture to a simmer, stirring constantly, and cook for 1-2 minutes until the sauce thickens to your desired consistency.
  5. Step 5: Remove from heat and serve the Asian Chili Ground Turkey & Green Bean Bowls immediately over your choice of rice or grain. Garnish with sesame seeds or sliced green onions if desired.

Notes

  • Store any delicious leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days, making future meals a breeze.
  • To best preserve the flavors and texture, reheat gently on the stovetop over medium heat, adding a splash of water or broth if the sauce has thickened too much in the fridge.
  • Elevate your bowl by serving it over fluffy quinoa or even cauliflower rice for a lighter meal, and don't forget a sprinkle of toasted sesame seeds for extra crunch.
  • Feel empowered to customize the heat by adjusting the amount of chili garlic sauce; add a little extra for a fiery kick, or dial it back for a milder, family-friendly version.
