Quick Air Fryer Cinnamon Twists: Flaky crescent dough, brushed with butter, coated in sweet cinnamon sugar, air-fried to golden perfection, then glazed.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk (or water)
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla bean paste

Instructions

  1. Step 1: Unroll the crescent roll dough on a clean surface or parchment paper. If using crescent dough sheets, leave as is. If using perforated crescent rolls, press the seams together to form a solid rectangle. Cut the dough lengthwise into approximately 1/2 to 3/4-inch wide strips.
  2. Step 2: In a small bowl, combine the granulated sugar and ground cinnamon. Melt the unsalted butter in a separate microwave-safe bowl. Brush each dough strip with melted butter, then sprinkle generously with the cinnamon-sugar mixture, ensuring good coverage.
  3. Step 3: Carefully pick up each buttered and sugared dough strip and gently twist it several times to create a spiral shape.
  4. Step 4: Preheat your air fryer to 325°F (160°C). Arrange the cinnamon twists in a single layer in the air fryer basket, ensuring they do not overlap. You will likely need to cook them in batches. Air fry for 5-7 minutes, or until golden brown and puffed. Keep a close eye on them to prevent burning.
  5. Step 5: While the twists are air frying, prepare the glaze. In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla bean paste until smooth and free of lumps. Add more milk a tiny bit at a time if needed for a thinner consistency, or more powdered sugar for a thicker glaze.
  6. Step 6: Once the cinnamon twists are done, carefully remove them from the air fryer and place them on a wire rack. Drizzle generously with the prepared glaze while they are still warm. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Notes

  • For best enjoyment, savor these twists fresh; if you have any leftovers, pop them in an airtight container at room temperature for a day or two, but note they might soften slightly.
  • To bring back that warm, fresh-baked goodness, a quick reheat in the air fryer at 300°F (150°C) for 2-3 minutes works wonders, but be mindful that the glaze may soften or melt slightly.
  • These warm, glazed twists are absolutely delightful on their own, but also shine alongside a scoop of vanilla ice cream, a dollop of whipped cream, or simply with your morning coffee for an extra special treat.
  • For beautifully even browning and to avoid raw spots, resist the urge to overcrowd your air fryer basket; always cook in a single layer and rotate halfway through if your air fryer has hot spots.
